Ori Biotech Lands 10-Year, $120M Commercial Cell Therapy Manufacturing Deal

The strategic collaboration was agreed upon with an undisclosed biopharmaceutical company.

Editor’s Take: Although the partner company was not identified for competitive reasons, these deals can help scale and expand access.

Ori Biotech (Ori, also styled Oribiotech) has a strategic collaboration with an undisclosed biopharmaceutical company for commercial cell therapy manufacturing. The deal, valued at $120 million over 10 years, intends to integrate Ori’s IRO platform into the manufacturing process. Ori specializes in advanced cell and gene therapy (CGT) manufacturing technology.

Cell Therapy Advancement in Demand

Overall, the partnership aims to expand patient access to current and future, potentially, transformative, cell therapies.

The $120 million pact covers services, milestones, equipment, and consumable purchases over the life of the agreement. Its design ideally modernizes the partner’s autologous cell therapy manufacturing infrastructure.

Autologous cell therapies—made from a patient’s own cells—demand precise, reliable, scalable manufacturing, according to Ori. The company believes these conditions need to be met to sustain commercial availability and develop next-generation cell therapies at scale.

Ori IRO Platform Defined

Ori’s IRO platform helps by combining hardware, consumables, software, and data analytics into a closed, good manufacturing practice (GMP)-ready system. IRO supports the full journey from R&D to commercial manufacturing while addressing core challenges of autologous cell therapy production. Those challenges include reducing batch-to-batch variability, minimizing operator touch time, increasing throughput, and lowering cost of goods sold.

IRO received an Advanced Manufacturing Technology designation from the U.S. FDA in June 2025.

Ori Biotech CEO Jason Foster said the CGT field needs dedicated and patient-focused organizations to help bring therapies to patients.

“Our newest partner has made an important commitment to further advancing its cell therapy capabilities,” Foster said. “We are proud to be their chosen manufacturing technology partner. The IRO platform was built precisely for this challenge: to give developers the scalability, reproducibility and cost efficiency they need.”
